The Waddick Fuels Ridgetown Open Competitive (ROC) curling league wound up regular season play on March 8th, 2013. The season final is Monday, March 25th, so come out to watch some excellent local curling at the Ridgetown Golf and Curling Club at 7:00 p.m.
Doug Young vs. Rob McKinlay
The feature of this game was lots of rocks in play. Rob started off with a single in the first. Doug blanked the second in hopes of taking a big end in the third. Unfortunately things don’t always work out as planned and Rob stole two. Doug was able to tie things up in the fourth when his team managed to get a couple of rocks in play for three points. Rob came back strong with a deuce in five to regain the lead. Doug was able to take the lead in the sixth with his second three-ender of the game. Rob’s team was inspired by Doug’s team’s accomplishment and promptly scored four in the seventh. The three-point deficit was too great for Doug and he was run out of rocks. Rob wins 9-6.
Glen Meredith vs. Peter Fisher
Peter started off with a deuce in the first. Glen followed with a deuce in the second. Peter got a deuce in the third. Glen got a deuce in the fourth. Glen messed up a perfectly easy to write report by stealing a single in the fifth. Peter got things back on track with a deuce in the sixth. Then Peter stole one in the seventh. Glen could only manage one in the eighth to give Peter the 7-6 win.
Tom Goens vs. Scott McKinlay
Tom put this game away early by taking four in the first and stealing two in the second and one in the third. Scott got on the board in the fourth with a single. Scott was able to steal the second, but his momentum left him and he conceded after six. Tome wins 7-2.
Bob Ingram vs. Sheila Young
Bob started off really well in this one. He stole two in the first, one in the second, one in the third, one in the fourth and bookended two in the fifth. Sheila closed the gap with three in the sixth. Bob took one more in the seventh before Sheila packed it in for the night. Bob wins 8-3.
